Filming the Short Film
Yesterday we did the filming for our short film, I think it went well considering the circumstances. As I talked about in the last post we were supposed to film at the Stevens Estate but the lady who would let up in couldn't stay late enough, well she got back to me Monday and said that she could stay late tuesday, but at that point we just needed to film it and be done with it. Thats not all though, we were going to start filming at around 3:00 but then two of our actors decided that they were going to go to the school musical rehearsal and so they didn't get out until after five. By the time we all got up to the estate there was only an hour left of light so we were rushed. Once we started filming there were some problems with the audio gear so we had to plug the boom mic into our scenes camera where I mad a mistake so on audio from the boom mic was recorded. Other then that everything went about as planned.Monday, March 10, 2014

Changing day into night
For a created a photograph where a girl is looking reading a book where light is illuminating from it for a bookmark contest.
I took the picture during the day but I wanted it to look like I it was night time so I them had the challenge of turning day into night in photoshop and create light coming from the book.
To do it I lowered the exposure in an adjustment layer and then masked out the girl. Next I made another adjustment layer and lowered the exposure a bit less and then masked out the background. For the blue light I just used the paintbrush tool and then set the blend layer to color.
Then for the light coming out of the book I created a gradient using the pen tool and then did another smaller one to make the light closer to the book more powerful. I them used Gaussian blur to make the edges fuzzy.

Nikon Finally released the specs of the replacement to the Nikon D4, called the D4s. This camera will be a low light monster. While the D4s will have a 16.2 megapixel sensor like the D4 Nikon claims that it is a completely redesigned sensor which has a standard maximum ISO of 25,600 opposed to the D4 which has standard maximum ISO of 12,800. That gives the D4s and entire stop above the D4. The changes doesn't stop there either, Nikon bumped the max fps from 10 fps to 11 fps. Thanks to the new expeed 4 processor the D4s can shoot 1080p at 60 fps, a first for a professional DSLR. The D4s is available starting March 6th and will set you back $6,500. You can pre order the camera from BH Photo here.
